REMOTE EMBODIMENT
Experimental Dance Fashion Video, HD, 8 minutes, 2016
Synopsis
The medical and empathic potential of wearable technology is explored, as strangers interact through the common language of dance, remote embodiment and the integrated circuit. The story follows Alice, a cyborg, as she encounters an array of different people on her path towards becoming human.
Remote Embodiment was produced in association with filmmaker Danièle Wilmouth and fashion designer Anke Loh, with music by Ryoji Ikeda. Featuring the Chicago dancers Alice Klock, Jacqueline Burnett, Emilie Leriche, the film was choreographed by Terence Marling.
The LED jewelry featured in Remote Embodiment was developed through a research collaboration with Anke Loh together with Stretchable Circuits GbR and the Fraunhofer Institute Berlin, Germany.
